#ABlossomingJourney Do you like flowers? On this glamorously enamelled ewer, you can find plenty of them: on the top and bottom of the white belly are two rings of lotus petals facing downward and upward respectively. In the middle, there is a bright yellow droplet-shaped panel, where you can find passion flowers. On its two sides, there is a Chinese rose spray and a hibiscus spray. The pinched neck of the ewer is adorned with passion flowers and banana leaves; and the rim, spout, handle and foot ring are embellished with interlocking floral sprays.
Floral and foliage, cultural exchanges, and all other beautiful things are the passion of Prof. Xu Xiaodong, who just left us recently. Prof. Xu was esponsible for the acquisition, research, publication, exhibition and national touring of this bright and elegant ewer.It is a pity that she cannot join the European touring of it and other Canton enamels that she so dearly cared for. With her teachings and love, we will continue to bring knowledge and touching experiences of artworks to more audiences. We wish her a blossoming journey to the other world, which shall be as beautiful as the enamels, jades, ambers and qipao she loves.
